This native groundcover is commonly known as large mosquito orchid.
Reported at 4 Fraser Coast localities: Boonooroo Plains, Fraser Island, Tinnanbar, Tuan Forest.
It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act this taxon is classified as Least Concern.
Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.
Acianthus fornicatus is described as a "monocot" in the Orchidaceae family.
A small plant with a single round or slightly obovate leaf at ground level, 1.5-3cm in diameter, green on upper surface but can be purplish on under surface. Flower stem 8-16cm high with 1-10 greenish or brownish translucent flowers 1cm high. Flowers May-July. Maaroom (Poona N/P), Teddington Weir, Fraser Island. (Alan Logan)
