Species information

Acrostichum speciosum     Willd.

This native groundcover is commonly known as mangrove fern.

Reported at 14 Fraser Coast localities: Bunya Creek, Duckinwilla, Dundowran Beach, Fraser Island, Granville, Howard, Magnolia, Maryborough, Susan River, Teddington, Tinana, Tinnanbar, Toogoom, Yengarie.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act this taxon is classified as Least Concern.
Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Acrostichum speciosum is described as a "fern" in the Pteridaceae family.

Present in riparian aquatic habitats as well as littoral areas.  Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.
