Species information

Cupaniopsis shirleyana     (F.M.Bailey) Domin

This native tree is commonly known as wedge-leaved tuckeroo.

Cupaniopsis shirleyana is described as a "dicot" in the Sapindaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Vulnerable. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is classified as Vulnerable.

In the Queensland Flora Census recorded only in the Wide Bay and Moreton districts. Nearest records just south of the Fraser Coast region at Glen Echo. ‘Back on Track’ high priority plant species for the Burnett Mary NRM region. Previously also included Cupaniopsis sp. (Watalgan A.R.Bean 8611) which is recorded between Bundaberg and Gladstone and differs from Cupaniopsis shirleyana by its fewer (4 to 8) larger (4 to 15 cm long) leaflets that are markedly different in shape and size (https://apps.des.qld.gov.au/species-search/details/?id=14648). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
