Distribution north, south and west of Fraser Coast region. Within the region only recorded on K'gari (Fraser Island). Previously known as Cyathea cooperi (Queensland Flora Census 2020).
It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
