Species information

Acmena smithii     (Poir.) Merr. & L.M.Perry

This native tree is commonly known as lillypilly satinash.

Acmena smithii is described as a "dicot" in the Myrtaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Outside of New South Wales and Queensland known as Syzygium smithii. Northern limit of narrow-leaved form (Rheophytic form) is Tinnanbar (Gwen Harden, Hugh Nicholson, Bill McDonald, Nan Nicholson, Terry Tame, John Williams. 2014. It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 11 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple Forest, Dundowran, Dundowran Beach, Magnolia, Poona, St Mary, Takura, Talegalla Weir, Teddington, Tinnanbar, Tuan Forest.
