Species information

Eucalyptus microcorys     F.Muell.

This native tree is commonly known as tallowwood.

Eucalyptus microcorys is described as a "dicot" in the Myrtaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

In the Fraser Coast region recorded only on K'gari (Fraser Island). This appears to be the northern limit of the species. The northern distribution terminates very abruptly at about the latitude of Happy Valley, just about where it produces some of the largest specimens measured (K'gari (Fraser Island) Defenders Organisation, Fraser Island's Flora. http://fido.org.au/about-fraser-island/flora/[21/07/2016]). Reported also at Craignish.  

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
