Species information

Hypolaena fastigiata     R.Br.

This native groundcover is commonly known as tassel rope-rush.

Hypolaena fastigiata is described as a "monocot" in the Restionaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

In the Fraser Coast region recorded only on K'gari (Fraser Island) but reported on the mainland at Tuan Forest (https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/136892473). Uncommon in the region and with only one disjunct record to the north at Littabella National Park north-west of Bundaberg.  Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 2 Fraser Coast localities: K'gari, Tuan Forest.
