Species information

Lepidosperma longitudinale     Labill.

This native groundcover is commonly known as pithy swordsedge.

Lepidosperma longitudinale is described as a "monocot" in the Cyperaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Culms rather spongy, compressible, strongly biconvex (PlantNet). Tall, often sticking out above other sedges and rushes. Stalks often with a slight spiral shape.  Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 8 Fraser Coast localities: Boonooroo Plains, Burrum Heads, Dunmora, K'gari, Maaroom, Tuan Forest, Walliebum, Walligan.
