Species information

Leptospermum whitei     Cheel

This native shrub is commonly known as Whites tea-tree.

Leptospermum whitei is described as a "dicot" in the Myrtaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Recorded between Tuan and Poona. Also reported at Tinnanbar, Poona creek, Burgowan and Burrum Heads which is the northern limit of the species apart from one disjunct record in the Isis area just outside Fraser Coast region northern boundary. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 6 Fraser Coast localities: Granville, Owanyilla, Poona, Tinnanbar, Tuan Forest, Walligan.
