Species information

Styphelia sieberi     (DC.) Hislop, Crayn & Puente-Lel.

This native shrub is commonly known as prickly heath.

Styphelia sieberi is described as a "dicot" in the Ericaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Uncommon on the the Fraser Coast region with records at Bauple and Mt Walsh at the northern limit of this species. Also reported at Tinana and Tinana Creek. Previously known as Leucopogon juniperinus (Queensland Flora Census 2020). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 4 Fraser Coast localities: Magnolia, Owanyilla, Talegalla Weir, Tinana.
