Species information

Leucopogon parviflorus     (Andrews) Lindl.

This native shrub is commonly known as coastal beard-heath.

Leucopogon parviflorus is described as a "dicot" in the Ericaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

In the Fraser Coast region recorded only on K'gari (Fraser Island) which is the northern limit of distribution. Shrub up to 2.4 m tall, but usually much smaller, branchlets sometimes pubescent. Leaves ± sessile, narrowly obovate to obovate, apex acute, mucronate, base truncate, margin ± flat or slightly recurved, 1-2.5 cm x 0.25-0.6 cm, discolourous, 3 major longitudinal nerves impressed above. Moderately common in coastal sandy heath. Fruit white or yellowish (Flora of Southeastern Queensland). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
