Styphelia kinkuna     A.R.Bean

This native shrub is commonly known as Kinkuna beard heath.

Styphelia kinkuna is described as a "dicot" in the Ericaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Previously known as Styphelia sp. (Burrum Heads A.R.Bean 7802). A narrow endemic with a restricted distribution from Coonarr, just south of Bundaberg, to Poona National Park, SE of Maryborough. Also a disjunct population on Mount Walsh near Biggenden (Bean AR (2024). Styphelia kinkuna (Ericaceae), a new species from the Wide Bay region of Queensland, Australia. It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
