Species information

Macroptilium atropurpureum     (DC.) Urb.

This introduced vine or climber is commonly known as siratro.

Macroptilium atropurpureum is described as a "dicot" in the Leguminosae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

As at 01/07/2016 listed as a non-declared environmental weed in the Fraser Coast region. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 39 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Bauple Forest, Bidwill, Boonooroo Plains, Booral, Burrum Heads, Craignish, Doongul, Dundowran Beach, Glenwood, Granville, Great Sandy Strait, Howard, Kanigan, Maryborough, Mount Urah, Mungar, Owanyilla, Pacific Haven, Pialba, Point Vernon, Poona, Prawle, River Heads, St Mary, Takura, Teddington, Tiaro, Tinana, Tinana South, Toogoom, Torquay, Tuan Forest, Urangan, Urraween, Walkers Point, Walligan, Wondunna, Yengarie.
