Species information

Schoenus ornithopodioides     (Kuek.) S.T.Blake

This native groundcover is commonly known as bird's Foot.

Schoenus ornithopodioides is described as a "monocot" in the Cyperaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Distribution limited to coastal habitats between Gold Coast and Shoalwater Bay. In Fraser Coast region recorded only on K'gari (Fraser Island). Reported at Burrum Heads, Beelbi Creek and near Tinnanbar (https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/143751143, https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/134478440, https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/149443553).  

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 3 Fraser Coast localities: Beelbi Creek, Burrum Heads, Tuan Forest.
