Species information

Solanum mauritianum     Scop.

This introduced tree is commonly known as wild tobacco.

Solanum mauritianum is described as a "dicot" in the Solanaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Food plant for brown pigeon. Listed as an invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014 but not prohibited or restricted. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 22 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Bidwill, Booral, Brooweena, Craignish, Doongul, Dundowran Beach, Gigoomgan, Glenorchy, Glenwood, Kawungan, Maryborough, Owanyilla, Takura, Teddington, Tiaro, Tinana, Tinana South, Tuan Forest, Urraween, Yengarie, Yerra.
