Species information

Stachytarpheta jamaicensis     (L.) Vahl

This introduced groundcover is commonly known as light blue snakeweed.

Stachytarpheta jamaicensis is described as a "dicot" in the Verbenaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Listed as an invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014 but not prohibited or restricted. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 20 Fraser Coast localities: Antigua, Bauple Forest, Bidwill, Boompa, Booral, Burrum Heads, Craignish, Howard, Maryborough, Owanyilla, Point Vernon, Sunshine Acres, Takura, Tiaro, Tinana, Tinana South, Tinnanbar, Urangan, Urraween, Walligan.
