Species information

Tristaniopsis laurina     (Sm.) Peter G.Wilson & J.T.Waterh.

This native tree is commonly known as water gum.

Tristaniopsis laurina is described as a "dicot" in the Myrtaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Unommon in the Fraser Coast region. Populations at the northern limit apart from an outlying record on the Burnett River. Restricted to limited riparian eosystems.  Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 5 Fraser Coast localities: Boompa, Magnolia, Talegalla Weir, Teddington, Tuan Forest.
