Species information

Ripogonum discolor     F.Muell.

This native vine or climber is commonly known as prickly supplejack.

Ripogonum discolor is described as a "monocot" in the Ripogonaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

K'gari (Fraser Island) is the northern limit of the main southern population. https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/112636951 A disjunct population also in the vicinity of Cairns in north Queensland. Petiole 5–7 mm long, often ± flattened and twisted, hairless (Gwen Harden, Hugh Nicholson, Bill McDonald, Nan Nicholson, Terry Tame, John Williams. 2014. Rainforest Plants of Australia). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
