Species information

Smilax glyciphylla     Sm.

This native vine or climber is commonly known as sweet sarsaparilla.

Smilax glyciphylla is described as a "monocot" in the Smilacaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Prickles absent (Gwen Harden, Hugh Nicholson, Bill McDonald, Nan Nicholson, Terry Tame, John Williams. 2014. Rainforest Plants of Australia). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 14 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple Forest, Boompa, Booral, Craignish, Dundowran Beach, K'gari, Magnolia, Poona, River Heads, St Mary, Takura, Talegalla Weir, Tinnanbar, Tuan Forest.
