Eichhornia crassipes     (Mart.) Solms

This introduced aquatic plant is commonly known as water hyacinth.

Eichhornia crassipes is described as a "monocot" in the Pontederiaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

A category 3 restricted invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014. Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 10 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Beaver Rock, Gundiah, Magnolia, Maryborough, Prawle, Talegalla Weir, Tinana, Tinana South, Yengarie.
