Species information

Delonix regia     (Bojer ex Hook.) Raf.

This introduced tree is commonly known as poinciana.

Delonix regia is described as a "dicot" in the Caesalpiniacea family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Rarely occurs as a garden escapee in some places in the Fraser Coast region.  

It has not been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 7 Fraser Coast localities: Gundiah, Maryborough, Point Vernon, River Heads, Tinana, Toogoom, Urangan.
