Species information

Abutilon albescens     Miq.

This native shrub is commonly known as lantern bush.

Abutilon albescens is described as a "dicot" in the Malvaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Very uncommon in the Fraser Coast region with a disjunct southern limit record at Booral. In Queensland this is mainly a coastal/island species. Known as Abutilon indicum subsp. albescens (Miq.) Borss.Waalk. in the Australian Plant Census (at 24/12/2021).  

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
