This native tree is commonly known as stony creek backhousia.
Backhousia oligantha is described as a "dicot" in the Myrtaceae family.
In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Endangered. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.
Largely confined to a few locations in the Biggenden area including at Mt Walsh with an outlier on Mt Archer near Rockhampton. Habitat is Auraucarian microphyl vine forest (Austrobaileya vol 6 Number 3 2003).
