Species information

Vachellia farnesiana     (L.) Wight & Arn.

This introduced shrub is commonly known as prickly mimosa bush.

Vachellia farnesiana is described as a "dicot" in the Leguminosae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Previously known as Acacia farnesiana (Australian Plant Census). Listed as an invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014 but not prohibited or restricted. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 7 Fraser Coast localities: Beaver Rock, Glenorchy, Maryborough, Mount Urah, Owanyilla, Tinana, Yengarie.
