Species information

Asparagus africanus     Lam.

This introduced vine or climber is commonly known as climbing asparagus.

Asparagus africanus is described as a "monocot" in the Asparagaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

A category 3 restricted invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014. Flowering Tinana October 2016. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 15 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Bidwill, Booral, Craignish, Dundathu, Dundowran Beach, Eli Waters, Maryborough, Point Vernon, Takura, Tiaro, Tinana, Toogoom, Urangan, Walkers Point.
