Dendrobium gracilicaule     F.Muell.

This native epiphyte is commonly known as leopard orchid.

Dendrobium gracilicaule is described as a "monocot" in the Orchidaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Uncommon in the Fraser Coast region. Not officially recorded in the region but reported as locally common on Mt Bauple (Alan Logan and others) and also reported at St Mary. "Blotched cane orchid". A medium sized plant growing on trees and rocks (epiphytic & lithophytic). Stems (pseudobulbs) 20-40cm long with 2-4 leaves 6-10cm in length. Flowering racemes 4-7cm long with 5-12, 1-2cm diameter creamy-yellow or orangy-yellow flowers heavily blotched on the outer surfaces. Flowering period July-September. (Alan Logan). Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting).  

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 3 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, St Mary, Woocoo.
