Species information

Dianella rara     R.Br.

This native groundcover is commonly known as northern vanilla lily.

Dianella rara is described as a "monocot" in the Hemerocallidaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Small spindly plant. Leaves joining to the stem below the soil level. Inflorescence spindly, wide, open, generally a branching 'Y' shape. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 23 Fraser Coast localities: Antigua, Beaver Rock, Beelbi Creek, Booral, Brooweena, Burrum Heads, Duckinwilla, Granville, Maryborough, Mount Urah, Owanyilla, Pacific Haven, Point Vernon, Sunshine Acres, Takura, Talegalla Weir, Teebar, Tinana, Tuan Forest, Urangan, Walliebum, Walligan, Woocoo.
