Plectorrhiza tridentata     (Lindl.) Dockrill

This native epiphyte is commonly known as common tangle orchid.

Plectorrhiza tridentata is described as a "monocot" in the Orchidaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Uncommon in the Fraser Coast region. Reported at Mt Bauple (Alan Logan), Lenthal's Dam (Alan Logan) and Tinana Creek. A small dangling air plant suspended by one or more roots from live and dead twigs and small branches. Stems and roots pendulous 15-30cm long; stems with 4-6 narrow-lanceolate leaves 4-7cm in length. Flowering racemes pendulous 6-12cm long with 5-10 1cm diameter brownish-greenish flowers with a white labellum. Flowering period September-November. Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 5 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Duckinwilla, Howard, Magnolia, Teddington.
