Prasophyllum elatum     R.Br.

This native groundcover is commonly known as tall leek orchid.

Prasophyllum elatum is described as a "monocot" in the Orchidaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Uncommon in the Fraser Coast region at the species northern limit recorded at three mainland near coastal locations. Reported at Poona National Park (Boonooroo) and Tinnanbar. A fairly robust plant for this genus, with a single erect, tubular onion-like leaf 60-80cm high that encloses the flowering stem. Flowering stem 60-120cm high with 10-40 1.5 cm high brown, greenish or pinkish flowers with a greenish white labellum. Flowering period July-September (Alan Logan). Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting). https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/104446809 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
