Species information

Psychotria daphnoides     A.Cunn.

This native shrub is commonly known as smooth psychotria.

Psychotria daphnoides is described as a "dicot" in the Rubiaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

See Psychotria daphnoides var. pubescens. Two varieties recognised. The type variety Psychotria daphnoides var. daphnoides (small-leaved smooth psychotria) distribution from Gympie southward. Psychotria daphnoides var. pubescens (large-leaved smooth psychotria) distribution from NSW to north of Rockhampton. It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 17 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Boompa, Doongul, Duckinwilla, Gootchie, Howard, Magnolia, Malarga, Mount Urah, Owanyilla, River Heads, St Mary, Takura, Talegalla Weir, Teddington, Tuan Forest, Woocoo.
