Species information

Aotus mollis     Benth.

This native shrub is commonly known as aotus.

Aotus mollis is described as a "dicot" in the Leguminosae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

In the Fraser Coast region recorded at Dunmora and Craignish. Distribution extends north of the region between Woodgate and Bundaberg. This is the only recorded coastal population with the species otherwise found across inland areas of Queensland and New South Wales. 'mollis' is latin for 'soft' (https://www.wordhippo.com/). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
