Species information

Triadica sebifera     (L.) Small

This introduced tree is commonly known as Chinese tallow tree.

Triadica sebifera is described as a "dicot" in the Euphorbiaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Fraser Coast region is the northern limit of the species. Appears to be confined to one location in the region. Regarded as a noxious weed in southeastern U.S. where it threatens native ecosystems (Atlas of Living Australia). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
