Species information

Araucaria bidwillii     Hook.

This native tree is commonly known as bunya pine.

Araucaria bidwillii is described as a "conifer" in the Araucariaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Natural distribution of the main population is south of the Fraser Coast region. Also recorded at two locations in north Queensland. Widely planted elsewhere. Trunk photo with scars at Bunya Mountains.  

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 7 Fraser Coast localities: Craignish, Mungar, Point Vernon, Talegalla Weir, Tiaro, Tinana, Urangan.
