Species information

Archontophoenix alexandrae     (F.Muell.) H.Wendl. & Drude

This introduced tree is commonly known as Alexandra palm.

Archontophoenix alexandrae is described as a "monocot" in the Arecaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Prefers moist habitats. Natural distribution is outside of the Fraser Coast region north from Miriam Vale. It appears to have become established in the region after escaping from cultivation. The similar local palm species is Archontophoenix cunninghamiana. 

It has not been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 8 Fraser Coast localities: Bidwill, Dundowran Beach, Howard, Maryborough, Tinana, Tuan Forest, Urangan, Walligan.
