Species information

Sida rhombifolia     L.

This introduced groundcover is commonly known as Paddy's lucerne.

Sida rhombifolia is described as a "dicot" in the Malvaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Also known as Sida retusa and Queensland hemp. A common weed in sunny disturbed areas with a very fibrous stem and a deep taproot.  

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 37 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple Forest, Beaver Rock, Bidwill, Booral, Burrum Heads, Craignish, Doongul, Duckinwilla, Dundowran Beach, Gigoomgan, Granville, Gundiah, Howard, Kanigan, Kawungan, K'gari, Maryborough, Mount Urah, Point Vernon, Poona, Prawle, River Heads, Sunshine Acres, Takura, Talegalla Weir, Tiaro, Tinana, Tinana South, Tinnanbar, Toogoom, Torquay, Tuan Forest, Urraween, Walkers Point, Walligan, Yengarie, Yerra.
