Species information

Bambusa vulgaris     Schrad.

This introduced shrub is commonly known as common bamboo.

Bambusa vulgaris is described as a "monocot" in the Poaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

It appears that clumps have become established in some areas along the Mary River and Tinana Creek. Listed as an invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014 but not prohibited or restricted. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/100128024 

It has not been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
