Species information

Asparagus plumosus     Baker

This introduced vine or climber is commonly known as climbing asparagus fern.

Asparagus plumosus is described as a "monocot" in the Asparagaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

A category 3 restricted invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014. In Plants of the World Online known as Asparagus setaceus. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 30 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Bidwill, Boompa, Burrum Heads, Craignish, Dundathu, Dundowran Beach, Glenbar, Glenorchy, Gootchie, Granville, Gundiah, Howard, Kawungan, Magnolia, Maryborough, Owanyilla, Pacific Haven, Point Vernon, Prawle, River Heads, St Mary, Takura, Teddington, Tiaro, Tinana, Tinana South, Toogoom, Urangan, Yengarie.
