Species information

Caladenia catenata     (Sm.) Druce

This native groundcover is commonly known as white fingers.

Caladenia catenata is described as a "monocot" in the Orchidaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

A small plant with a single linear leaf 5-10cm high. Flower stem 12-18cm high with 1-4 pure white, greenish white or pinkish flowers 1.5-2cm in diameter. Flowering period May-July. Not common. Maaroom (Poona N/P); K'gari (Fraser Island); Tinnanbar. (Alan Logan). An iconic flowering ground orchid within the region. Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting). https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/103288310 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
