Species information

Corybas undulatus     (R.Cunn.) Rupp

This native groundcover is commonly known as tailed helmet orchid.

Corybas undulatus is described as a "monocot" in the Orchidaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

A very small plant with a single round l-2cm diameter leaf at ground level. Flowering stem very short, about 5mm high, with a 1.5 cm high dark reddish-brown globular hooded flower. Flowering period June-July. Fairly common. Vernon C/P; Maaroom (Poona N/P); Roadside verge Boonooroo (Alan Logan). Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting). Also reported at Tuan and Poona (https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/88429740).  

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
