Species information

Albizia lebbeck     (L.) Benth.

This introduced tree is commonly known as Indian siris.

Albizia lebbeck is described as a "dicot" in the Leguminosae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Naturalised in Wide Bay district. Native on Cape York peninsula only (Queensland Flora Census 2022). This species appears to have escaped from cultivation in the region. In some locations individual trees are very large and old. Deciduous. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 10 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Maryborough, Point Vernon, St Mary, Talegalla Weir, Teddington, Tiaro, Tinana, Walkers Point, Yengarie.
