In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland.
Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.
This species is rapidly spreading in the region. Deep taproot makes physical removal difficult. Listed as an invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014 but not prohibited or restricted. As at 28/02/2026 declared as a Local Law Pest Plant in the Fraser Coast region for K'gari (Fraser Island) area only and listed elsewhere in the region as a non-declared environmental weed.
It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is
listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
