Species information

Hibbertia acicularis   (Labill.) F.Muell.

This native groundcover is commonly known as prickly guinea flower.

Hibbertia acicularis is described as a "dicot" in the Dilleniaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

This taxon no longer recognised as occurring in Queensland in the recent review, Notes on Hibbertia subgen. Hemistemma (Dilleniaceae) – 13. The eastern Australian H. acicularis and H. perhamata groups H.R. Toelken. See Hibbertia minysantha. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.

Reported at 6 Fraser Coast localities: Toogoom, Tinnanbar, K'gari, Poona, Tuan Forest, Boonooroo Plains.
