Species information

Potamogeton octandrus   Poir.

This native aquatic plant is commonly known as floating pond weed.

Potamogeton octandrus is described as a "dicot" in the Potamogetonaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting). Also reported at Gundiah (https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/321328572) and south of Brooweena (https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/328878806). Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
