Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.
A small plant with a single linear leaf 5-10cm high. Flower stem 12-18cm high with 1-4 pure white, greenish white or pinkish flowers 1.5-2cm in diameter. Main flowering period May-July. Not common. Maaroom (Poona N/P); K'gari (Fraser Island); Tinnanbar. (Alan Logan). Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting).

May be confused with Caladenia picta however no plants have been observed in the region with a painted column.
Some identifiers do not recognise the painted column as a relevant feature. They prefer to identify these orchids based on flowering time of April-July for Caladenia picta and August-October for Caladenia catenata (lester_thompson (https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/7112759))
Based on the flowering time and lack of observations after July, Caladenia catenata does not occur in the region.
It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is
listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in the Atlas of Living Australia.
