Species information

Diuris alba     R.Br.

This native groundcover is commonly known as white doubletail orchid.

Diuris alba is described as a "monocot" in the Orchidaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

A largish plant with 2 linear grass-like erect leaves 10-16cm in length. Flowering stem 30-50cm high with 2-8 3.5- 5cm high white flowers sometimes heavily blotched with purple. Flowering period June-August. Common and widespread. Howard, Vernon C/P; Booral Rd (Hervey Bay); Tandora; Maaroom (Poona N/P). (Alan Logan). Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting). Also reported at Pacific Haven (https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/137238541) 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 10 Fraser Coast localities: Aldershot, Boonooroo Plains, Burgowan, Duckinwilla, Maryborough, Torbanlea, Tuan Forest, Urangan, Walliebum, Walligan.
