Species information

Caesia walalbai     A.T.Webb, Birch & R.L.Barrett

This native groundcover is commonly known as small caesia.

Caesia walalbai is described as a "monocot" in the Johnsoniaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Staminal filaments yellow. This study highlights the value to taxonomic research of photographic records on citizen science platforms like iNaturalist (2023) for the documentation of ephemeral organs, especially colour and shape (Mesaglio et al. 2023)(https://openjournals.library.sydney.edu.au/TEL/article/view/17346/15252). It has not been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
