Species information

Euchiton involucratus     (G.Forst.) Anderb.

This native groundcover is commonly known as common cudweed.

Euchiton involucratus is described as a "dicot" in the Asteraceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Uncommon stoloniferous perennial up to 50 cm tall. Stems erect, white tomentose. Rosette leaves dead at time of flowering. Cauline leaves up to 5-18 cm x 0.4-1 cm, reducing upwards, glabrous above, closely whitish tomentose below, 1-nerved. Flowering heads 3-4 mm across, arranged in usually terminal ± globular clusters 0.8-1.5 cm diameter, subtending leaves 3-5; bisexual campanulate florets mostly 5-6 per head. Not common, in damp or swampy places. Flowers spring to autumn. (Flora of South-eastern Queensland). Recorded to the north and south of the Fraser Coast region. Reported at Talegalla Weir. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
