Gahnia clarkei     Benl

This native groundcover is commonly known as tall sawsedge.

Gahnia clarkei is described as a "monocot" in the Cyperaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Near northern limit in the Fraser Coast region recorded on Fraser Island and at St Mary which is an unusual sub-coastal occurrence. To the north of the region reccorded at Isis and Elliott Rivers. Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 8 Fraser Coast localities: Bidwill, Burrum Heads, Dundowran Beach, K'gari, Poona, St Mary, Tinnanbar, Tuan Forest.
