Species information

Melodorum leichhardtii     F.Muell.

This native vine or climber is commonly known as zig-zag vine.

Melodorum leichhardtii is described as a "dicot" in the Annonaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Previously known as Rauwenhoffia leichhardtii (Gwen Harden, Hugh Nicholson, Bill McDonald, Nan Nicholson, Terry Tame, John Williams. 2014. Rainforest Plants of Australia). Also known as knot vine. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 29 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Boompa, Booral, Brooweena, Craignish, Doongul, Duckinwilla, Dundowran, Dundowran Beach, Gigoomgan, Gootchie, Gundiah, Howard, Kanigan, K'gari, Magnolia, Malarga, Mount Urah, Nikenbah, Owanyilla, River Heads, St Mary, Takura, Talegalla Weir, Teddington, Tinana, Tuan Forest, Woocoo, Yerra.
