This native shrub is commonly known as glossy-leaved phyllanthus.
Phyllanthus sauropodoides is described as a "dicot" in the Phyllanthaceae family.
In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.
Reclassified from Near Threatened to Least Concern in Queensland 2014. Distribution is north of the Fraser Coast region between Agnes Water and Monto.
It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
